Important
Japan is very friendly to Railway Enthusiasts, but please follow the below rules to ensure safety to all and not to inconvenience others:
- Safety Only take pictures from safe areas, particularly in stations and around level crossings etc. As well as your own safety be aware of others around you and don’t do anything that effects their safety.
- Do not impede railway staff, passengers or others. Whether on a station, street or other location make sure you are not blocking anyone from going about their business.
- Do not trespass on railway or other property. Permission is always needed to take photographs from non public areas.
- Use of tripods and step ladders is prohibited on stations. Even if not expressly prohibited please ask station staff for permission.
- No flash Never use a camera flash, it can daze train drivers and others and cause an accident.
- Do not publish pictures on social media or other publications that show peoples faces or other identifying features without first getting approval. People’s privacy is very important
- Be considerate to others, including other rail enthusiasts. Greetings, and moving out the way to allow others take pictures, helps make activities more enjoyable for everyone and avoids trouble.
